The Malta Bankers’ Association (MBA) which was first established in May 1962, represents the interests of banks that are licensed to operate in Malta. Besides being a co-ordinating and lobbying body for banks, the MBA’s mission is to promote an enabling environment for the banking sector through advocacy, capacity building, education and networking. The MBA is, since 2004, a full member of the European Banking Federation (EBF). The organisational set-up of the Association consists of:
- The Board, which is primarily responsible for policy issues,
- An Executive Committee,
- A full-time Secretariat, and
- A number of sub-committees and working groups (comprising personnel from members) which deal with specific business areas and issues.
